Veterans Wayside Park Improvements

Veterans Wayside Park is getting a new, modern playground and other enhancements.

This project comes directly from resident feedback sessions and the Village’s Parks Master Plan. It addresses the need for more walkable, neighborhood-scale playgrounds and helps achieve our long-term vision of having a park within a half-mile of every resident.

The new design serves multiple age groups and uses durable, modern materials. Safety is our top priority. The playground will be set back significantly from US-1 and will be buffered by a new low coral wall, fencing, and landscaping.

The revitalization plan also includes:

●      New lighting for enhanced park safety

●      A solution for managing exposed tree roots

●      Enhancements to the lake's water quality, which is vital for migratory wildlife

●      A partnership with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden to introduce native orchids to the park’s trees

This project is fully funded by an existing capital allocation set aside specifically for Veterans Wayside Park. It is not connected to the millage rate adopted this year.
