November Council Meeting Summary

At the November 18 meeting, the Village Council selected a new Vice Mayor, approved legislative priorities supporting Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and advanced several zoning and land use requests.
The Council also recognized outstanding employees and deferred proposed parking restrictions along Southwest 57th Avenue for further review.

The Village Council approved the following resolutions during the November Council Meeting:
State Legislative Priorities
A resolution was approved supporting the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ 2026 State Legislative Priorities. Council members emphasized protecting academic freedom, safeguarding school funding, and shared concerns about "Schools of Hope" (charter schools) co-locating in public school facilities. Parking Restrictions Deferred
A resolution proposing new parking restrictions along Southwest 57th Avenue (Red Road) near the Southwest 107th Street entrance was deferred. Council requested a more holistic review of school-related parking and mobility concerns in the area before moving forward. Learn more at Tab 3.
Vice Mayor Selection
A resolution ratified the selection of Councilmember Ken Fairman as Vice Mayor for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Councilmembers thanked outgoing Vice Mayor Jerry Greenberg for his service. Learn more at Tab 5.
2024-2025 Budget Amendment
An ordinance on first reading amended the 2024-2025 operating and capital outlay budget (Fourth Quarter) to address end-of-year closeouts and sidewalk funding. Approved for second reading on December 9, 2025. Learn more at Tab 6.
Mitigation of Fine
The Council approved a mitigation request regarding a code compliance case for 8310 Southwest 130th Street, reducing the accrued fine to cover only the Village's direct administrative costs. Learn more at Tab 8.
Planned Zoning Approvals:
● Crimson Egret Subdivision Plat: A preliminary plat was approved for three existing single-family lots on Southwest 60 Court and Southwest 61 Court, adjusting lot boundaries without creating additional homesites. Learn more at Tab 10.
● Revised Plat of Felber Estates: A resolution approved a revised plat for Mango Grove Land Trust to provide vehicular access to a landlocked mango grove property near Southwest 98th Terrace. Learn more at Tab 11.
● Platea Prime Steakhouse & Ceviche Bar
The Village Council approved a conditional use permit for Platea Prime Steakhouse to expand its alcohol service from beer and wine to include spirits (4COP license). Learn more at Tab 12.
Recognition & Presentations:
● Employee of the Year: The Village presented the Guido Inguanzo Service Award 2024 to Esther Cabrera, Code Enforcement Supervisor (proclamation presentation delayed from the previous year), and 2025 to Nicole Tobias, Deputy Village Clerk, for their exemplary service.
● Zoning Board Chair Recognition: Outgoing Zoning Board Chair Daniel Enekes was recognized for his four years of service.
● Pinecrest Native Plant of the Month: The Jamaican Caper Tree was presented as a low-maintenance native hedge option that supports local pollinators.
