The Pinecrest Police Department is a full service community oriented police agency, and one of seven Public Safety Answering Points (911) in Miami-Dade County. The department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation and the Florida Telecommunications Accreditation Commission. Services include Patrol, School Resource Officers, Crime Scene Investigators, Crime Prevention Unit, Traffic Enforcement Unit, Police Canine Unit, Police Dispatching, Community Service Aides, Crossing Guards, and the Criminal Investigations Section, which comprises of the Detectives, Crime Suppression Team and Crime Analyst.
Samuel Ceballos, Jr. was sworn-in as Pinecrest's third Police Chief on July 11, 2012. Chief Ceballos began his career with Pinecrest in December 2002, and is the Village's first chief promoted from within the department. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has over 40 years of law enforcement experience.
