Construction begins Monday, Oct. 26, on six paver-accented raised crosswalks along Kendall Drive (SW 88th St.) in Pinecrest. They will be built where neighborhood streets meet the new shared-use path, at SW 64th Court, SW 63rd Court, SW 62nd Court, SW 61st Court, SW 65th Court, and SW 60th Avenue.

The raised crosswalks will make walkers and cyclists more visible to drivers, improving safety for everyone. Their decorative pavers will also create an attractive gateway to the adjacent neighborhoods.

What to expect

Each crosswalk will take about a month to build, and the full project is expected to be complete in February or March of 2027. Dates may shift with weather and field conditions. The current estimated schedule is:

  • SW 64th Court: starts Oct. 26

  • SW 63rd Court: late Nov.

  • SW 62nd Court: late Dec.

  • SW 61st Court: late Jan.

  • SW 60th Avenue: begins after Jan. 1 (date to be confirmed)

  • SW 65th Court: Feb.

Access and closures

Pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be closed in the affected area during construction, but residents will have access to their homes at all times.

  • SW 60th Ave. through SW 64th Ct.: Residents have alternate access via SW 92nd Street.

  • SW 65th Ct.: Construction will be phased so access to the cul-de-sac stays open.

Informational doorhangers are being delivered to affected homes.

Safety: Please slow down near the work zone, follow signs and flaggers, and watch for crews and pedestrians.
