Polishing Pinecrest Recycling Event
Published on March 10, 2026
Join us for Polishing Pinecrest, a community event celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 18 from 8 am to noon at Evelyn Greer Park, 8200 SW 124th Street.
This year’s event features three exciting activities designed to help keep our Village clean and green.
The first activity is a free Drive-thru Recycling event. This event allows residents to drop off a variety of recyclables—electronics, chemicals, and clothing—all in one place without leaving their cars. Simply drive through, and the staff will unload your items. You can recycle:
-
Electronics: phones, printers, batteries, computers, televisions, and fluorescent bulbs.
-
Chemicals: paint, gasoline, caulking, aerosol cans, adhesives/glues, and household cleaners.
-
Clothing: Only clean clothes that are new or slightly used.
These items will not be accepted: fertilizer, furniture, appliances, ammunition, cylinders, smoke detectors, pesticides, herbicides, oxidizers and tires.
The second is a Paper Shredding Service. On-site, your documents will be securely destroyed, and the shredded paper will be recycled.
Not accepted for paper shredding: large binder clips, plastic, metal, 3-ring binders or x-rays.
Finally, you can also contribute to the Clothing Donation. Have suits or work clothes? Donate gently used, modern, and high-quality professional attire (suits, blazers, blouses, dresses, and work shoes) to help individuals re-enter the workforce. Donations should be clean and in good condition.
Let's come together to make Pinecrest a cleaner, greener place to live. Mark your calendars for this Earth Day event and help us Polish Pinecrest.
