Fight the Bite – Keep Those Mosquitoes at Bay

Mosquito standing on the hand of a person

There’s no denying it –mosquito season is here to stay (until October).

In addition to the county’s active mosquito control programs and our Village’s canal maintenance and debris-removal efforts, you can play a vital role in keeping those pesky mosquitos at bay.

Here’s how:

  • Avoid standing water - empty birdbaths, pet bowls, and planters weekly

  • Clear gutters so water drains properly

  • Store or turn over buckets, wheelbarrows/other containers

  • Refresh ornamental pond water weekly or use larvicide tablets

  • Check your yard after every rainfall for standing water

Report standing water in public areas, drainage ditches, or neglected properties: miamidade.gov/mosquito or call 311.
