The Village of Pinecrest is launching a new micromobility initiative this week to promote public safety and address the growing use of electric modes of transportation throughout the community. Approved by the Village Council in May 2026, the new ordinance establishes regulations for electric bikes and scooters, including speed limits, fines, and other safety requirements. The ordinance also addresses additional electric transportation devices. Residents are reminded that e-motorcycles are prohibited throughout Pinecrest.

To help residents understand the new rules, the Pinecrest Police Department will begin offering a series of safety training courses during the second week of July. The classes are designed for young riders and their parents or guardians. Attendance by both the rider and parent/guardian is required, and participants will be asked to sign a safety acknowledgment form.

Space is limited and classes are filling quickly. To reserve your spot, contact the Pinecrest Police Department at 305-234-2100.
