136 Street Bridge Update
Published on December 03, 2025
Here is the latest update on the bridge replacement on SW 136 Street being conducted by the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW).
The extended closure has created longer travel times and daily detours for many residents, and we recognize how challenging that has been. The good news is the DTPW’s estimated completion date is by January 2026. Keep in mind that this timeline may be impacted by weather conditions and the availability of materials and labor.
This is a complex project, not a simple repair. The County is fully replacing the old bridge with a new cast-in-place concrete structure.
Work includes:
● Constructing the new bridge
● Installing “smart” pedestrian lighting
● Major drainage improvements to protect the roadway
● New pavement markings and signage
Further updates will be shared as DTPW provides them.
