Elevation Drive

Killian Drive/Ludlam Road
Cortada recruited art students from four local high schools to help him paint “Elevation Drive,” underwater markers at four major intersections along a 2.5-mile stretch of Killian Drive. These painted intersections, coupled with underwater markers in the front yards of Pinecrest residents, made the issue of climate change and sea level rise impossible to ignore.

Pinecrest Municipal Center
Marking its 20th Anniversary, the Village of Pinecrest’s Council commissioned Cuban born artist, Reynaldo Glez, to paint a mural at Village Hall depicting the vibrant colors and imagery of the Village’s character.
Glez immigrated to the US in 1995. About his work, Glez stated, “I am a muralist and I enjoy working visually on large scale installations in a public arena. Painting these extensive vistas, keeps me in touch with the essence of human perception and image creation.”

72nd Avenue Traffic Circle
Following a six month art exhibit at Pinecrest Gardens featuring the work of internationally renowned sculptor, Santiago Medina, the 14’ centerpiece of the exhibition was purchased by the Village for its permanent public art collection. Medina summarizes his artistic passion with the following words; “I bring inert stainless steel to life by creating timeless masterpieces filled with light and movement”. His unique abstract masterpiece can be viewed at the traffic roundabout on 72nd Ave and 104th street bathed in sunlight during the day and reflecting the hues of colorful floodlights after sundown.
Flower Pot
Pinecrest Community Center
Flower Pot is a monumental sculpture, created by world famous Brazilian artist and former Pinecrest resident, Romero Britto. Showcasing Britto’s unique and recognizable style painted in primary colors and cheerful graphic patterns, this sculpture is one of only 48 of made in this limited edition. Flower Pot is 101" x 60" x 24", and provides a warm, welcome visual everyday, for residents entering the Pinecrest Community Center and library.

Coral Pine Park
Miami graphic artist Dimitrios Gulbalis donated a tile painting, titled Birds of the Everglades, to the Village of Pinecrest in 2010. The finished tile painting is five feet tall by 12 feet wide and took artist Gulbalis two months to create.
Our Colores

Suniland Park
Miami artist Alex Yanes created and painted one of several murals commissioned by the Miami Marlins for throughout Miami-Dade as part of their #OurColores campaign at Suniland Park. Suniland Park is Pinecrest's baseball-centric park and home of the fabled Howard Palmetto Baseball Softball Association. The completed mural was revealed on November 15, 2018.
Pinecrest Mangrove Forest: Plan(T) for the Future

Pinecrest Gardens
During Art Basel 2019, Pinecrest Gardens’ Artist in Residence, Xavier Cortada, created a 200-foot long mural on the backside of the Gardens‘ Colonade, along with the planting of the very first known urban mangrove forest. Through the initiatives of this socially-charged art project, Cortada embarked on a public education campaign urging residents across Miami-Dade County, to plant saltwater-tolerant mangrove seedlings and place an elevation-marked white flag in their yards to start preparing for the future of sea-level rise.
