The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the management of all public parks in the Village including Coral Pine Park, Flagler Grove Park, Evelyn Greer Park, Suniland Park, and Veterans Wayside Park. The Department is also responsible for the coordination of all programs and activities at Village facilities including the Pinecrest Community Center. The Department functions under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director.
Department Staff
Loren C. Matthews serves as the Parks and Recreation Director and is responsible for the management and operation of the Village’s park system. Ms. Matthews previously served as Superintendent of Culture/Recreation for the City of Aventura and Recreation Program Coordinator for the Village of Key Biscayne. Ms. Matthews is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Leisure Services and Studies. She is also a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (National Playground Safety Institute). Ms. Matthews is an active member of the Florida Recreation and Parks Association.
